boston bruins vs. montreal canadiens
Two teams part of the original six the Montreal Canadiens and Boston Bruins, these teams are close to the status of legendary teams. Ever since day one both these glorious teams have been neck to neck, but eventually the habs broke out in retaliation giving them a lead on thier rivals the bruins. The montreal canadiens have played a total of 852 games including play offs and the Habs have won 432 of those games and the Bruins have won 420... Pretty close . That is just an example to show you how close these teams are when it comes to skill.

montreal canadiens vs. toronto maple leafs
Montreal and Toronto have had the oldest rivalry in the original six hockey teams of the NHL, but this problem isn't because people were raised there and just because they lived in Toronto they have to hate Montreal. No that is not the problem at all, the problem is that Toronto has the largest anglo-fone population and Montreal has the largest franco-fone population, and obviously the past has come to haunt these two great hockey teams. Just to give you an idea, Montreal and Toronto have faced eachother in the playoffs 12 times and 5 times in the Stanley Cup Finals. These teams are extremely competitive.

montreal canadiens vs. quebec nordiques
The Montreal Canadians and the Quebec Nordiques were the only two hockey teams that came from the province of Quebec. The Nordiques came to the NHL in the year 1980, and since both teams come from the same province a rivalry was made. The Quebec Nordiques were also a part of the original six. The rivalry grew in 1983-84 when the Nordiques faced the Canadians in the playoffs in the second round. This was the biggest rivalry that lasted 13years in the NHL, but then the Nordiques were sold to Colorado to become the Colorado Avalanche. Most fans are very disappointed that the Quebec Nordiques do no exist in the NHL anymore, but some fans still believe that the Nordiques will come back one day.
